How to Configure workstation in EC2 Instance and Centos 7


We will learn today, How to confiugre workstation in EC2 instance and Centos 7.
Workstation is system which use for create the cookbook and test it then upload the cookbook in Chef Server.
We are using Amazon AMI 2 for Workstantion and using Hosted Chef Server as a Chef Server.
Hosted Chef Server Manage 5 Node only.
Create a Account then Login.


Login Link.

Create the EC2 instance in AWS Console :-

1. Install packages in Workstatino:-
yum install -y wget curl


2. Download Chef Development Kit for Workstation link.


wget  https://packages.chef.io/files/stable/chefdk/3.2.30/el/6/chefdk-3.2.30-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ivh chefdk-3.2.30-1.el6.x86_64.rpm


Please Verify the Chef Development kit is installed or not :-
chef verify

Check chef Client Version :-
chef-client -v
chef --version


3. Login the Chef Server. I am using here Hosted Server.
4. Go to Administration Tab and Download Started Kit For Workstation.




5. Download it Send to your Workstation Node :-
scp -i ss.pem chef-starter.zip ec2-user@13.232.128.173:/home/ec2-user/

Uzip the Chef-starter.zip :-
unzip chef-starter.zip
knife node list
knife client list

Note :- When you unzip the folder of chef-start kit all command running in this folder example below :-



If you facing the problem above like :-  (knife node list) give you error ssl put the below command to ssl error.
knife ssl fetch
